CALL TO ORDER
Please note: Meetings of the Board of Legislators and its committees are held at the

Capital projects from the Department of Parks, Recreation & Conservation

The Westchester County Department of Parks and Conservation is over 100 years old and
oversees 54 facilities, making up 18,000 acres. Over the last eight years they have bonded
about $575 Million in Capital Projects for their facilities. The upgrades conducted in most
facilities are once in a generation upgrades, such as trailway repairs, among others. Their
capital projects program is part of their overall five-year project that totaling $978 Million, which
is why they continue returning to the Board of Legislators for funding, in addition to other
funding resources. Currently, there are 14 ongoing continuous projects that help many
facilities and get longevity out of the parks. There are 13 projects in the design phase and 43
in the construction phase, with a completion expectation within the next few months to a year.
The Parks Department Master Plan components have been updated for the first time in 25
years and includes community engagement, resource and data collection, needs assessment
